How do I access the full text of an O'Reilly/Safari eBook?

You need to create a free O'Reilly account using your CIA email address to access full-text eBooks from O'Reilly/Safari.

If a link to O'Reilly only gives you the option to start a free trial, DON'T. You don't need to pay for access. Ask the library if the steps below don't work.

To create an account:

  1. In the catalog record of the eBook you want to view, click the link to connect to resource.
  2. On a new page, a box will appear saying, "Welcome! Get instant access through your library" and a drop-down menu.
  3. Type or find "Cleveland Institute of Art" in the "School or institution name" box/drop-down menu.
  4. Enter your CIA email address in the "Email Address" field.
  5. Click "Sign in".
    1. If you already have an account: enter your password and click "Sign in" again.
    2. If creating an account: You now be in the title, but you will need to create a password to save your progress.
  6. After your account is set up, you can log in and save titles and your progress.

You can also download the O'Reilly app to download and read offline.
